How to send khata reminders that customers don't mind
A regular customer owes ₹2,450 from last month, and asking feels like risking the relationship. A short, friendly message works better than a phone call.
Why reminders feel awkward
Money talk is personal. A written message lets the customer pay without a face-to-face moment.
Timing: when to send
Send the first reminder 7 days after the bill, in the evening when people check their phones. Wait another week before the second one.
What to write
Keep it short, name the amount, and make paying one tap away.
Namaste Ramesh ji, your balance at Sharma Kirana Store is ₹2,450. Pay by UPI here: …/k/8Hq2. Thank you!
Use their language
A message in Hindi, Tamil or Bengali reads as personal, not as a notice. Set each customer's language once.
When they still don't pay
Stop the credit for that customer until the balance is cleared, and say so politely in person.
